For my B-Tech Practical project, I decided to do research on awareness on Colour Vision Defeciency (CVD), also known as colour blindness. Through my research, I concluded that there needs to be more awareness on CVD. This sparked the awareness campaigh #Colourfool. Colourfool is wordplay on the words colourful and foo. Colourblind people struggle to differenctiate between certian colours, many people thinking they are foolish when it comes to colour. But alas, we all are fools for colour as it is a thing of beauty, and life would be dull without it.
For the awareness campaign, a series of posters, stickers, notebooks, t-shirts, and calender's were created. Lastly an installation artwork was created accompanied by a video. The colour scheme for this project was derived from colours that Protonopes, Deuteranopes an Tritanopes can see. Protonopes and Deuteranopes are red/green colour deficient where Tritonopes struggle with yellow and green. All of the illustrations were created with fineliner and gouache paints

For the instalation artwork, a 1.9m by 1.9m wood panel was mounted with over 600 colour filled glass jars. The pattern of the colours were organised in such a way that if somebody who is red/green colour defecient, they would have difficulty distinguishing between certian colours.

oulEnchroma manufactures glasses that enable colourblind people to experience colour for the first time. Three red/green deficient volunteers were used to take part in a reaction video to illustrate how moving the experience of colour can be. The volunteers looked at the artwork with the glasses on and there was clearly a difference in what they could see.
